History: † The first generation of skateboards was created sometime in the 1950's. It was made of flat wooden boards or planks, and roller-skate trucks and wheels. Skateboarding was originally called "sidewalk surfing." † The second generation of skateboards had the first polyurethane wheels, then companies started to create the first truck, or axel, that was specifically designed for skateboards.
† The third generation of skateboarding included
the first ollie, which first was called the no-hands aerial. † The fourth and current generation, includes a better designed skateboard with better wheels, and trucks. The new wheels were alot lighter than the previous and made it easier to do aerial tricks.
